Our Finishes
The finishes
See every finish before you choose
Eight finishes, each shown on the same blank plate under the same light, so you can compare them side by side. Find yours, then choose your control and shop it on any switch, dimmer, outlet or plate.
Lightest to darkest gold
On a screen, the brass tones can look close. In the hand, they are clearly apart. Here is how they line up.

Satin Brass
A soft, muted brushed gold, the lightest and most even of our brass tones. The lacquer seals it, so the finish you unbox is the finish you keep.
Pairs well with: White oak, warm whites, light stone and brushed gold fixtures.

Antique Brass
Hand-Brushed
A deeper, warmer gold with the brush direction left visible, brushed by hand piece by piece. Lacquered, so it stays exactly as delivered.
Pairs well with: Unlacquered brass taps, walnut, plaster walls and period homes.

Unlacquered Antique Brass
Hand-Brushed
The same hand-brushed brass, left without lacquer. On arrival it looks like Antique Brass; over the months it darkens where hands land and records the life of the house. The controls and the screws never patinate.
Pairs well with: Unlacquered plumbing and hardware that will age alongside it.
Made to order, so it takes longer to ship. Each piece varies up to 30% and the finish is non-returnable.

Aged Bronze
Hand-Brushed
Markedly darker than Antique Brass: a deep brown bronze with olive and gold undertones. On a screen the two can look close; on the wall they are not.
Pairs well with: Oil-rubbed bronze fixtures, dark woods, deep greens and moody paint.

Hammered Brass
A field of small hand-struck facets that scatters light across the whole plate. It is a texture rather than a colour, so it is best judged on the full piece.
Pairs well with: Stone, limewash, rustic timber and Spanish or Mediterranean homes.

A cool brushed silver with a fine, even grain. Clean and quiet next to modern kitchens and nickel or chrome fixtures.

A soft white plate that disappears into a white wall, so only the control catches the eye.
Pairs well with: White and cream walls, light rooms, Scandinavian and coastal homes.

Will the finish look exactly like the photos?
These close-ups are shown under the same soft daylight to make comparing easy, but every screen shows colour a little differently, and brass reflects the room around it. If you hesitate between two finishes, ask us for studio photos of your exact piece.
What is the difference between Antique Brass and Aged Bronze?
Antique Brass is a warm hand-brushed gold. Aged Bronze is much darker, a brown bronze with olive and gold undertones that sits beside oil-rubbed bronze fixtures.
What does lacquered mean?
A clear protective coat seals the finish, so it stays as delivered. Unlacquered Antique Brass has no coat and develops a patina over time.
Can I mix finishes in one plate?
Yes. Matte Black, White and Stainless Steel plates can carry brass knobs and levers, and every plate can be built exactly how you want it in the configurator.
Do the screws match the plate?
Yes. The screws always come in the same finish as the knobs and levers.
