Leather Wrapped Solid Brass Door Lever Set, US Standard

$365.00

A solid brass door lever set: a round bar lever wrapped in genuine leather. Machined from solid brass and finished by hand, it is the same family of hardware as our brass switch plates, so the door and the wall read as one design.

Choose your function:
• Passage: latch with no lock. The door is always free to open. For hallways, closets and living spaces.
• Privacy: active latch with a privacy pin that locks from the inside through the rose. In an emergency it opens from the outside with a small pin. For bathrooms and bedrooms.
• Thumb Turn Set: the passage set plus a matching thumb turn. Lock from the inside with the turn, and open from the outside with a coin in an emergency.
• Mortise Lock with Thumb Turn: the levers come with an integrated mortise lock body. Lock from the inside with the turn knob, open from the outside with a coin.
• Mortise Lock with Key: the levers come with an integrated mortise lock body. Lock from the inside with the turn knob, open from the outside with the key.
• Double Dummy: a pair of non latching handles. They rotate but do not operate a latch. For closet and pantry doors held by a catch.

US Standard or European Mortise?

US Standard versions
Made for American bored doors: 2-1/8" (54 mm) cross bore, 2-3/8" (60 mm) backset and 1" (25 mm) edge bore. Most pre hung interior doors sold in the US are prepared this way, so Passage, Privacy and Double Dummy fit without new drilling. Mortise lock options need a mortise pocket in the door edge.

European Mortise versions
Made for doors prepared with a mortise latch: a 1" (25 mm) hole for the spindle with two 5/16" (8 mm) through bolt holes, and for lock options a mortise pocket with 72 mm between the lever and the cylinder.

Not sure which one you have?
Measure from the edge of the door to the center of the existing hole (the backset), and take a photo of the door edge. Email it to support@studio-timeless.com and we will tell you exactly what to order.

Installation Guide

Before you begin
Check the door prep (US Standard or European Mortise), the door thickness and the swing direction. Our levers are reversible for left or right hand doors.

1. Fit the latch or lock body
Slide the latch, or the mortise lock body, into the door edge and screw the faceplate flush with the edge.

2. Mount the roses
Pass the spindle through the latch, place the inside and outside roses and fix them with the through bolts or screws supplied.

3. Fit the levers or knobs
Slide the levers onto the spindle and lock them with the small grub screw. For privacy and thumb turn sets, fit the turn knob and the emergency release in the same way.

4. Fit the strike plate
Mark the latch position on the frame, recess the strike plate and screw it in place. Close the door and check the latch engages smoothly.

Tips
Do not overtighten the screws on solid brass. For new doors or mortise locks, we recommend a carpenter or a professional installer.
